Anoka Equine is pleased to provide a structured and broad-based internship program that provides new graduate veterinarians with the opportunity to develop clinical and client interaction skills that will serve them well in a practice environment or a residency program. Our interns are exposed to diverse and challenging cases as well as everyday care, a variety of horse disciplines, and primary case management. Providing mentorship and practical hands-on experience are at the very core of the internship.
Interns are exposed to all facets of veterinary medicine and surgery, reproduction, anesthesia, and lameness. The first 2-3 months are divided into time spent assisting the veterinarians in the hospital and out in the field. Following that period, we feel our interns are able to start take on their own ambulatory calls during the day as well as emergency time on-call. Throughout the internship the interns are still partially scheduled in the clinic where they are able to participate in indepth lameness cases, surgery and intensive care cases.
It is strongly suggested that you complete an externship prior to applying for the internship. To apply please submit an Avenues application, 3 references and a letter of intent by December 1st.
