Thermography

Thermography is available to scan horses for areas of increased heat (inflammation) or decreased temperature (disuse). This technology can be used to evaluate horses with subtle lameness. Thermography is especially helpful for localizing soft tissue injuries that can not be found with radiography. The thermography camera is much more sensitive at picking up small changes in temperature than even a skilled practitioner. Click here to learn more about thermography.

Videoendoscopy

A videoendoscope provides a higher quality image than the traditional fiberoptic endoscope. In addition, both still photographs and video images can be recorded for later review.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is available to evaluate soft tissue structures. Injuries to structures such as tendons and ligaments are most commonly ultrasounded. Chests and abdomens can be scanned to evaluate heart, lungs, abdominal organs and fetal assesment in pregnant mares. In foals, umbilical abnormalities and lungs can be evaluated via ultrasound.
