Emergency Surgery

When minutes matter, we’re ready. Common emergency procedures include colic surgery and exploratory abdominal surgery. Our on-call surgeon and anesthesiologist coordinate with our hospitalization team to stabilize, diagnose, and treat as quickly and safely as possible. If you’re unsure whether trailering or on-farm assessment is best, call first—our team will advise you and prepare for your arrival if hauling in is recommended.

Elective Surgery

We perform a wide range of scheduled procedures designed to improve comfort, performance, and long-term health, including arthroscopies, castrations, dental surgery, hernia repairs, biopsies, ruptured bladder and bladder stone surgeries, enucleations, and third eyelid resections, among others. Every case receives a tailored plan that aligns with your goals and your horse’s needs.

What to Expect

Before Surgery: Clear Answers, Thoughtful Planning

You’ll meet with our surgeon to review history, exam findings, and any diagnostics. We’ll discuss your horse’s diagnosis, treatment options, risks, benefits, estimated costs, and anticipated recovery timeline. You’ll leave the consultation with a clear plan and logistics for admission, fasting (when applicable), and pre-operative instructions.

During Surgery: Vigilant Monitoring and 24/7 Expertise

Your horse’s comfort and safety guide everything we do. An anesthesiologist is on call 24/7 and collaborates closely with the surgical team to select the safest protocol for your horse. We continuously monitor anesthesia, ventilation, cardiovascular status, and depth of anesthesia throughout the entire procedure, adjusting in real time to keep your horse stable.

After Surgery: Continuous Care and Confident Recovery

Post-operatively, your horse benefits from 24/7 monitoring in our hospitalization unit when indicated. We manage pain, fluids, bandaging, and nutrition, and we track vital signs and incision sites for early detection of any concerns.

Before discharge, you’ll receive detailed written instructions, medication guidelines, bandage care steps, and a customized schedule for follow-up appointments and rechecks. Our team remains available to answer questions as recovery progresses.

Surgical Excellence for Horses

Whether you’re planning an arthroscopy or facing a suspected colic, our equine surgery team is ready to help—day or night. A surgeon and anesthesiologist are on call 24/7 to guide you through next steps, triage your horse, and prepare for immediate care when needed.

“Incredible facility! I've never felt like someone cared so much for a pet that wasn't even theirs! We brought in a 3 year old mini that was next thing to crossing over & they did an emergency surgery on a Sunday afternoon that saved her life! The entire staff is knowledgeable and friendly! Thank you, from little Mia and her humans!”
