Dr. Kevin Voller
Dr. Kevin Voller has been practicing equine medicine at Anoka Equine since 1991. He obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota in 1988 and furthered his education by completing a large animal surgical residency there as well. Professionally, Dr. Voller has special interest in equine sports medicine, lameness consultations and surgery. Away from the clinic, he is happiest on horseback and loves enjoying the great outdoors.
Dr. J.C. Thieke
Veterinarian & Owner of Anoka Equine
Dr. J.C. Thieke joined Anoka Equine in 1999 and has been an owner since 2003. He graduated from the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 and then completed an equine internship at Littleton Large Animal Clinic in Colorado. After gaining 2 years additional experience at a South Dakota clinic, he joined the AE team. Dr. Thieke has special interest in sports medicine, lameness consultations, surgery and dentistry. He is a Certified Veterinary Chiropractor and serves on the American Association of Equine Practitioners Dental Committee. He and his family enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, hunting and riding western performance horses.
Dr. Dave Schwinghamer
Veterinarian & Owner of Anoka Equine
Dr. Dave Schwinghamer came to Anoka Equine in 2008. He studied veterinary medicine initially at Ross University, completing his final year at Texas A & M in 2004. After working at an ambulatory practice in Minnesota, he joined a private practice in San Antonio, Texas, gaining valuable experience in surgery, emergency medicine and managing referral cases. In 2008, he returned to Minnesota and accepted a position at AE where his professional focus is lameness consultations, dentistry and surgery. Since becoming an owner in 2012, Dr. Schwinghamer has become active in a business management group and has filled a needed IT role to support clinic advancement.
Dr. Rick Marion
Dr. Rick Marion has been an integral part of Anoka Equine since he joined the staff in 2002. Born and raised in Kansas, Dr. Marion obtained his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. After several years in private practice, he returned to his academic pursuits in 1985 at the University of Minnesota. While there, he completed a three year residency in Large Animal Surgery and then spent two years as an assistant professor at the Large Animal Hospital. After an additional six years in academia working as an equine doctor at the University of Missouri, Dr. Rick made his way back to Minnesota and found a new home here at Anoka Equine.
Dr. Monica Snyder
Dr. Monica Snyder joined our veterinary team in 2017. During her college years, Dr. Snyder spent time learning about varied equine disciplines, working at hunter/jumper barns, thoroughbred race tracks and a world-renowned breeding operation. She also spent many hours working as an assistant right here at AE. After graduating from the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013, Dr. Snyder spent several years as an equine ambulatory doctor in western PA. When the opportunity arose, she made the move back to AE in early 2017. In her free time, Dr. Snyder enjoys following thoroughbred breeding and racing.
Dr. Margo Cangemi
Dr. Margo Cangemi was born and raised in the Twin Cities. She grew up riding dressage, dabbling in gaming and as a teenager worked at a trail barn along the Kinnickinnic River. She completed her undergraduate studies in sunny California, but missed the snow and returned to Minnesota for veterinary school. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her many furry friends, including her thoroughbred, Taillights, and her two dogs Bonnie and Bob. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is helping her clients and their horses strengthen their bond through education and care.
Dr. Taylor Isberner
Intern Veterinarian 2021-2022
Dr. Taylor Isberner has joined the AE team for a year long internship. A Minnesota native, she graduated from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021 as part of a school partnership program that allowed her to spend the first two of years of veterinary school at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine so far are equine internal medicine and emergency and critical care cases. In her free time she loves enjoying the outdoors, spending time with her horse, Jack, and running her dog, Dooley, in agility trials.
Dr. Taylor is excited to strengthen her knowledge and skills this year and to work closely with the clients and patients of Anoka Equine!
